Formula One will boost Indian sports:Vijaya Mallya

Formula One will boost Indian sports:Vijaya Mallya

Force India's team principal and managing director Vijay Mallya said Wednesday that the inaugural Formula One race in India is a major step for Indian sports.

"I have been involved in motor racing for over 30 years, and it’s one of my greatest passions. I brought the first Formula 1 car over to India in the 1980s and it was always a dream of mine to one day see this great nation host a Grand Prix," Mallya said.

"This weekend is a very significant moment and I’m extremely proud," he added. "It’s a major step forward for Indian motorsport, and for sports in general in our country. We are all looking forward to it."

Mallya said being the first home race for Force India, the Silverstone-based team was determined to put up its best showing at the Buddh International Circuit here.

"This is a very important weekend for Sahara Force India and we are all determined to be as competitive as possible. I want to savour every moment of what will surely be one of the most spectacular events of the season and the start of a great Formula 1 tradition in India," he said.

Mallya said the race will increase the popularity of Formula One in India.

"There is already great interest in Formula One in India, but having our own race has created a real buzz and will take the sport to an even wider audience. As soon as the ticket sales were announced, people were clamouring to buy them. Hosting the premier racing series in the world is a great privilege and there is great excitement in the country," he said.

Asked about the team's latest partnership with Sahara India, Mallya said: "This is yet another great milestone in the history of this team. The Sahara Group brings fresh investment. It has played a very important role in the development of sport in India and is an ideal partner to help us achieve greater success in the future."

This weekend, Mallya will also select the one best driver from a billion young driver hunt.

"I made the decision to begin a driver hunt in India about 18 months ago. It was a massive undertaking to hold open trials in seven cities, but I was delighted by the quality of the drivers who came along to show their skills. Last week the top 10 youngsters visited Silverstone to complete their final assessments based on driving talent, fitness and media training," he said.

“We will see. It is a long race and Lewis starts in fifth, I think, with Fernando behind, Jenson behind, they surely will put a lot of pressure on us. It’s a long race and a new track, and we don’t know how the tyres will respond.

“Mark and myself target to win the race, ideally with a one-two, so it will be an interesting race tomorrow.”

Watch ON Neo Cricket Live|India VS England 3rd ODI Live Cricket Score

Ind vs England Neo Cricket Live 3rd ODI : live score
Matches: India v England at Mohali
Series/Tournaments: England tour of India
Teams: England | India
Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott combined in an unbeaten 83-run stand for the third wicket, as England took advantage of Alastair Cook's correct call at the toss to build themselves a promising platform in the third ODI at Mohali. At the halfway mark of the innings, they had reached 135 for 2, with Trott unbeaten on 42 from 54 balls, and Pietersen alongside him on 51 from 48.

Needing a victory to stay in the series, Cook gave England an early leg-up by winning the toss, because in 19 matches at the Punjab CA Stadium, 14 have been won by the side batting first. However, he himself was unable to capitalise. After being tied down by a typically tight new-ball spell from Praveen Kumar, he fell to his first delivery from Vinay Kumar - a back-of-a-length ball that beat Cook's attempted whip across the line, and trapped him lbw for 3.

Craig Kieswetter produced his most convincing innings of the series to date, as he built on a placid start to dent the openers' figures with a pair of sixes in consecutive overs. But, having flicked Umesh Yadav through fine leg to move to 36 from 37 balls, he was suckered by a wide delivery from Virat Kohli, which he dragged onto the base of his leg stump.

Pietersen and Trott came together with England wobbling on 53 for 2, but soon settled into a comfortable accumulative rhythm. Pietersen glanced his second ball through fine leg for four, whereupon Trott responded with three fours in four balls from Yadav and Kohli. A thick outside edge off Ashwin gifted Pietersen another boundary, but there was nothing fortuitous about his subsequent assault on Praveen, as he helped himself to four further fours in consecutive overs.

As so often, it was the introduction of a left-arm spinner that dented Pietersen's momentum, but crucially India let their opportunity for a breakthrough slip past. Ravindra Jadeja sent down five consecutive dot-balls, which tempted Pietersen into a suicidal single from the sixth. Trott barely responded to the call, and would have been out by the length of the pitch had the shy from midwicket been remotely accurate. But MS Dhoni behind the stumps was forced to dive to intercept, and the chance was lost.

Both teams have named an unchanged line-up, with England resisting the temptation to find a berth for Ian Bell, whose form in Test cricket has been peerless in the last six months. Samit Patel has also been retained despite a lacklustre performance with the ball in the first two matches. India had fewer selection conundrums to ponder in the lead-up to the match, with every facet of their one-day game in good order going into the first of three series deciders.

India 1 Parthiv Patel, 2 Ajinkya Rahane, 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Praveen Kumar, 10 Vinay Kumar, 11 Umesh Yadav

England 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Craig Kieswetter (wk), 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Ravi Bopara, 6 Jonny Bairstow, 7 Samit Patel, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 Steven Finn, 11 Jade Dernbach
his match and both captains have to make a winning strategy. The most important thing is that how the Alastair Cook will manage their new players in 3rd One Day International match India vs England. India lead the series 2-0 and still 3 matches are left. Now England need to win all remaining three matches, and India need just one match to take the series. So, all new players of both teams have to do great performance and they should impress their fans.

Bangalore welcomes to Namma metro

Bangalore Namma Metro 2011

The wait for metro rail in the country's IT hub Bangalore is finally over! Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath inaugurated the service which will open to public from 4 p.m. Thursday. The Metro service will run between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, several state ministers, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley, and a number of state Congress leaders were present at the inauguration at the decked up M.G. Road station.
Bangalore Metro stations: First Look

Almost all of them, along with senior officials of the state government and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, special invitees and media personnel took the first ride in the "Namma Metro" (Our Metro) flagged off by Kamal Nath.

Bangalore has taken a step towards solving its most pressing urban infrastructure problem with the launch of the Metro rail service - India's third such after Kolkata and Delhi. Traversing just under seven kilometres through the eastern part of the city, the so-called 'Reach 1' of the Metro is regarded more as a sign of hope than a major contributor to easing Bangalore's notorious traffic congestion.

Linking the once-fashionable MG Road business district with Baiyappanahalli, the Metro is projected to carry 30,000 passengers a day, with fares ranging from Rs 10-15. The Delhi Metro, in comparison, has clocked peak traffic of two million and snakes through nearly 200 km of India's capital and surrounding areas.

The first reach will cater to a limited number of people and is unlikely to ease traffic in the city, said Pravin Sood, Bangalore's top policeman in charge of traffic.

The subsequent 'reaches' totally spanning the 42.3 km, will make a difference when they are completed in 2014, Sood said, expecting vehicular traffic to fall by up to 30% as a result.

While the Delhi Metro has been a model for the rest, it does not have something that Bangalore Metro has: onboard Wi-Fi connectivity, in keeping with Bangalore's reputation as one of the world's top technology centres. But Bangalore Metro is at least a year behind schedule and its first phase will cost Rs 5,000 crore more than the estimate of Rs 6,395 crore. It is only the second phase, which will involve extensions to the city's tech hubs on the outskirts, that will make Bangalore Metro a true game-changer.

Bangalore Metro is standard gauge, a system used by most metros worldwide. Narrower than the broad gauge, it allows for greater manoeuvrability, easy ride along curves, laying of tracks even on narrow stretches and control. The standard gauge has a track width of 4ft, 8.5inches, or 1,435mm, while the Indian broad gauge is 5ft, 6inches, or 1,676mm.

The Bangalore Metro, in terms of technology, is comparable to any metro rail system in the world - in Europe , USA or China - and is even ahead of some of them, BMRCL MD N Sivasailam said.

Diwali for Rangoli patterns

Rangoli Designs| Rangoli patterns for Diwali

Rangoli is a Sanskrit word which means a creative expression of art through the use of color.

It is believed by many that during Diwali , Goddess Lakshmi visits homes that are well lit, so families decorate their homes, people wear their best clothes, children are given presents and new year greetings are exchanged through visits or Diwali cards.

An important part of the celebrations is Rangoli which is created on doorsteps to welcome everybody. Rangoli exudes a pattern in color that are specific for each region.

In the art of floor painting, the central rangoli design is the symbolic one denoting the deity or the theme. Though the designs vary in different sections of India, the basic approach is common. The designs are geometric and proportioned. Also, Rangoli can be made in two ways - dry and wet.

Motifs include lotus, fish, birds etc which reflects the unity of man and beast. Most of the rangoli designs are circular exuding a sense of endlessness of time. Sun, moon and other zodiac signs are also common themes for rangoli besides Om, mangal kalash, swastika, chakra, a lighted Deepak, trident, shree, lotus etc.

The raw materials mainly used to make rangoli include ibles like rice flour, pulse and leaves. Earlier, the colors were traditionally derived from natural dyes but today, however, synthetic dyes are used in a range of bright hues. Other materials include colored sand and even flowers and petals, as in gift he case of Flower Rangolis.

It has been a tradition in India to draw Rangoli on the festivals and other auspicious occasions as it is considered a holy ritual.

Hindus draw bright Rangoli patterns to encourage the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes. Here are some fabulous array of Diwali Rangoli designs wallpaper. We can see lots of different varieties of Diwali Rangoli Desings on ....
