Formula One will boost Indian sports:Vijaya Mallya

Force India's team principal and managing director Vijay Mallya said Wednesday that the inaugural Formula One race in India is a major step for Indian sports.
"I have been involved in motor racing for over 30 years, and it’s one of my greatest passions. I brought the first Formula 1 car over to India in the 1980s and it was always a dream of mine to one day see this great nation host a Grand Prix," Mallya said.
"This weekend is a very significant moment and I’m extremely proud," he added. "It’s a major step forward for Indian motorsport, and for sports in general in our country. We are all looking forward to it."
Mallya said being the first home race for Force India, the Silverstone-based team was determined to put up its best showing at the Buddh International Circuit here.
"This is a very important weekend for Sahara Force India and we are all determined to be as competitive as possible. I want to savour every moment of what will surely be one of the most spectacular events of the season and the start of a great Formula 1 tradition in India," he said.
Mallya said the race will increase the popularity of Formula One in India.
"There is already great interest in Formula One in India, but having our own race has created a real buzz and will take the sport to an even wider audience. As soon as the ticket sales were announced, people were clamouring to buy them. Hosting the premier racing series in the world is a great privilege and there is great excitement in the country," he said.
Asked about the team's latest partnership with Sahara India, Mallya said: "This is yet another great milestone in the history of this team. The Sahara Group brings fresh investment. It has played a very important role in the development of sport in India and is an ideal partner to help us achieve greater success in the future."
This weekend, Mallya will also select the one best driver from a billion young driver hunt.
"I made the decision to begin a driver hunt in India about 18 months ago. It was a massive undertaking to hold open trials in seven cities, but I was delighted by the quality of the drivers who came along to show their skills. Last week the top 10 youngsters visited Silverstone to complete their final assessments based on driving talent, fitness and media training," he said.
“We will see. It is a long race and Lewis starts in fifth, I think, with Fernando behind, Jenson behind, they surely will put a lot of pressure on us. It’s a long race and a new track, and we don’t know how the tyres will respond.
“Mark and myself target to win the race, ideally with a one-two, so it will be an interesting race tomorrow.”

Ind vs England Neo Cricket Live 3rd ODI : live score
Matches: India v England at Mohali
Series/Tournaments: England tour of India
Teams: England | India
Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott combined in an unbeaten 83-run stand for the third wicket, as England took advantage of Alastair Cook's correct call at the toss to build themselves a promising platform in the third ODI at Mohali. At the halfway mark of the innings, they had reached 135 for 2, with Trott unbeaten on 42 from 54 balls, and Pietersen alongside him on 51 from 48.
Needing a victory to stay in the series, Cook gave England an early leg-up by winning the toss, because in 19 matches at the Punjab CA Stadium, 14 have been won by the side batting first. However, he himself was unable to capitalise. After being tied down by a typically tight new-ball spell from Praveen Kumar, he fell to his first delivery from Vinay Kumar - a back-of-a-length ball that beat Cook's attempted whip across the line, and trapped him lbw for 3.
Craig Kieswetter produced his most convincing innings of the series to date, as he built on a placid start to dent the openers' figures with a pair of sixes in consecutive overs. But, having flicked Umesh Yadav through fine leg to move to 36 from 37 balls, he was suckered by a wide delivery from Virat Kohli, which he dragged onto the base of his leg stump.
Pietersen and Trott came together with England wobbling on 53 for 2, but soon settled into a comfortable accumulative rhythm. Pietersen glanced his second ball through fine leg for four, whereupon Trott responded with three fours in four balls from Yadav and Kohli. A thick outside edge off Ashwin gifted Pietersen another boundary, but there was nothing fortuitous about his subsequent assault on Praveen, as he helped himself to four further fours in consecutive overs.
As so often, it was the introduction of a left-arm spinner that dented Pietersen's momentum, but crucially India let their opportunity for a breakthrough slip past. Ravindra Jadeja sent down five consecutive dot-balls, which tempted Pietersen into a suicidal single from the sixth. Trott barely responded to the call, and would have been out by the length of the pitch had the shy from midwicket been remotely accurate. But MS Dhoni behind the stumps was forced to dive to intercept, and the chance was lost.
Both teams have named an unchanged line-up, with England resisting the temptation to find a berth for Ian Bell, whose form in Test cricket has been peerless in the last six months. Samit Patel has also been retained despite a lacklustre performance with the ball in the first two matches. India had fewer selection conundrums to ponder in the lead-up to the match, with every facet of their one-day game in good order going into the first of three series deciders.
India 1 Parthiv Patel, 2 Ajinkya Rahane, 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Praveen Kumar, 10 Vinay Kumar, 11 Umesh Yadav
England 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Craig Kieswetter (wk), 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Ravi Bopara, 6 Jonny Bairstow, 7 Samit Patel, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 Steven Finn, 11 Jade Dernbach
his match and both captains have to make a winning strategy. The most important thing is that how the Alastair Cook will manage their new players in 3rd One Day International match India vs England. India lead the series 2-0 and still 3 matches are left. Now England need to win all remaining three matches, and India need just one match to take the series. So, all new players of both teams have to do great performance and they should impress their fans.

Bangalore welcomes to Namma metro

Bangalore Namma Metro 2011
The wait for metro rail in the country's IT hub Bangalore is finally over! Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath inaugurated the service which will open to public from 4 p.m. Thursday. The Metro service will run between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, several state ministers, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley, and a number of state Congress leaders were present at the inauguration at the decked up M.G. Road station.
Bangalore Metro stations: First Look
Almost all of them, along with senior officials of the state government and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, special invitees and media personnel took the first ride in the "Namma Metro" (Our Metro) flagged off by Kamal Nath.
Bangalore has taken a step towards solving its most pressing urban infrastructure problem with the launch of the Metro rail service - India's third such after Kolkata and Delhi. Traversing just under seven kilometres through the eastern part of the city, the so-called 'Reach 1' of the Metro is regarded more as a sign of hope than a major contributor to easing Bangalore's notorious traffic congestion.
Linking the once-fashionable MG Road business district with Baiyappanahalli, the Metro is projected to carry 30,000 passengers a day, with fares ranging from Rs 10-15. The Delhi Metro, in comparison, has clocked peak traffic of two million and snakes through nearly 200 km of India's capital and surrounding areas.
The first reach will cater to a limited number of people and is unlikely to ease traffic in the city, said Pravin Sood, Bangalore's top policeman in charge of traffic.
The subsequent 'reaches' totally spanning the 42.3 km, will make a difference when they are completed in 2014, Sood said, expecting vehicular traffic to fall by up to 30% as a result.
While the Delhi Metro has been a model for the rest, it does not have something that Bangalore Metro has: onboard Wi-Fi connectivity, in keeping with Bangalore's reputation as one of the world's top technology centres. But Bangalore Metro is at least a year behind schedule and its first phase will cost Rs 5,000 crore more than the estimate of Rs 6,395 crore. It is only the second phase, which will involve extensions to the city's tech hubs on the outskirts, that will make Bangalore Metro a true game-changer.
Bangalore Metro is standard gauge, a system used by most metros worldwide. Narrower than the broad gauge, it allows for greater manoeuvrability, easy ride along curves, laying of tracks even on narrow stretches and control. The standard gauge has a track width of 4ft, 8.5inches, or 1,435mm, while the Indian broad gauge is 5ft, 6inches, or 1,676mm.
The Bangalore Metro, in terms of technology, is comparable to any metro rail system in the world - in Europe , USA or China - and is even ahead of some of them, BMRCL MD N Sivasailam said.

Diwali for Rangoli patterns

Rangoli is a Sanskrit word which means a creative expression of art through the use of color.
It is believed by many that during Diwali , Goddess Lakshmi visits homes that are well lit, so families decorate their homes, people wear their best clothes, children are given presents and new year greetings are exchanged through visits or Diwali cards.
An important part of the celebrations is Rangoli which is created on doorsteps to welcome everybody. Rangoli exudes a pattern in color that are specific for each region.
In the art of floor painting, the central rangoli design is the symbolic one denoting the deity or the theme. Though the designs vary in different sections of India, the basic approach is common. The designs are geometric and proportioned. Also, Rangoli can be made in two ways - dry and wet.
Motifs include lotus, fish, birds etc which reflects the unity of man and beast. Most of the rangoli designs are circular exuding a sense of endlessness of time. Sun, moon and other zodiac signs are also common themes for rangoli besides Om, mangal kalash, swastika, chakra, a lighted Deepak, trident, shree, lotus etc.
The raw materials mainly used to make rangoli include ibles like rice flour, pulse and leaves. Earlier, the colors were traditionally derived from natural dyes but today, however, synthetic dyes are used in a range of bright hues. Other materials include colored sand and even flowers and petals, as in gift he case of Flower Rangolis.
It has been a tradition in India to draw Rangoli on the festivals and other auspicious occasions as it is considered a holy ritual.
Hindus draw bright Rangoli patterns to encourage the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes. Here are some fabulous array of Diwali Rangoli designs wallpaper. We can see lots of different varieties of Diwali Rangoli Desings on ....

Wild Things 2 - Wikipedia | Facebook
Wild Things 2

Plot summary (with possible spoilers): Brittany Havers (played by Susan Ward) is a high school senior on the verge of inheriting about $70 million after her stepfather Niles (Anthony John Denison) dies in a plane crash. There are no other heirs — or so she thinks. Before the money transfer can take place, Maya (Leila Arcieri), a classmate, comes forward claiming to be Niles’ illegitimate daughter. A DNA test is ordered, and coroner Julian Hayes (Joe Michael Burke) confirms that Maya and Niles were indeed father and daughter. Brittany throws a fit in court — but that was obviously just for show. Later that night, she, Maya, and Julian all gather to celebrate the ruling.
The three conspirators think they are home free, but that’s when insurance investigator Terence Bridge (Isaiah Washington) starts nosing around. His insurance company stands to lose $2 million because of the crash, so he wants to make sure that everything about the “accident” was aboveboard before writing the check. He starts asking questions that even the cops hasn’t bothered with, and gets suspicious of Brittany, Maya, and Julian. Before long, he starts following them and figures out that they were all in on the scam together.
Bridge arrives at one of the trio’s rendezvous points just in time to see Brittany shoot Julian. Instead of going to the cops, he tries to turn the event into a big payday for himself. He confronts Maya and Brittany and demands to be cut in on the $70 million. Maya agrees, but Brittany doesn’t. Brittany then shoots Maya, and demands that Bridge help her dispose of the body. While driving to a dump site, Brittany casually leaves the car after noticing a police cruiser behind their vehicle. She then phones in an anonymous tip about the car Bridge is still driving, which leads to his arrest once the cops find Maya’s body in the trunk.
Brittany is then home free to share the money with — Niles, whose death has been faked in an elaborate scheme to elude creditors and skip out on gambling losses. The two are headed somewhere tropical, intending to ditch Brittany’s plane and make it look like she died too. The plan is to parachute to safety, but Brittany hands Niles a chute packed with newspapers so that he plunges to his death. Brittany then goes on to meet her real partner in crime, her mother.
Liked:
Nothing. I try very hard to come up with at least one thing I like about each movie I watch, but it’s impossible with this title. I can totally see why the film went straight to DVD.
Disliked:
I hate that this was called Wild Things 2. There wasn’t any real connection to the first movie; the title just gave the filmmakers the right to rip off the plot and twists from the original. The murder, cover-up, conspiracy, threesome, double-cross… it was all rehashed, just with different characters.
Wow, did the threesome scene have to go on for a full two minutes?? That’s an eternity in movie time. Obviously this was meant to be a big selling point for the teenage boys likely to rent or buy this film.
The dialogue was extremely clunky throughout. Most of the words probably looked good on paper, but sounded very awkward in spoken form. I’m not gonna go look up the screenwriter, but I’d be willing to bet this was his/her first or second try. This was definitely not the work of a seasoned pro.
Speaking of the screenplay, the way this movie unfolded, I could practically see the storyboard right there on my TV. The whole thing felt incredibly formulaic, even with the “unexpected” twists thrown in.
I know the last thing I should expect from a film like this is any kind of realism, but come on: there’s no way Brittany and her mom could have anticipated every single move that every character made. The simplest plans are the ones that work best. The overly elaborate ones with multiple layers are the ones where screw-ups happen. There’s no way this should have worked.
Rating:
I’m not sure what possessed me to rent Wild Things 2, but I can admit mistakes when I make them. This was a terrible film with only one redeeming quality: its relatively short run time. That’s the only thing preventing me from giving it 0 stars. The characters are flat and uninteresting, the plot is ludicrous, and the outcome a foregone conclusion. I give it 1 star out of 5.

India's Kumars - Praveen and Vinay - did their team a tremendous favour by dismissing England's openers before a run had been scored, thereby forcing a slow start from the visitors on a flat pitch, quick outfield and short boundaries at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Despite being reduced to 3 for 2 after four overs, though, England found the boundary 16 times in the first 25 overs, an indication of what might have been if not for India's three early strikes.
Alastair Cook had hoped to make best use of a surface he felt would get slower as the match progressed but his first-over dismissal was a huge setback to those plans. The third ball off the match, from Praveen, was short and wide and Cook cut it straight to Ravindra Jadeja at point. While Praveen was fortunate to strike with an ordinary delivery, Vinay produced a sharper ball in the second over to dismiss Craig Kieswetter - it bounced and seamed away from the right-hander and took the outside edge of the tentative prod to a wide first slip.
At 0 for 2 in second over, Jonathan Trott and Kevin Pietersen were forced to be careful. Trott defended and Pietersen shouldered arms repeatedly, getting settled as India's seamers moved the ball both ways.
The release came in the fifth over, when Trott took advantage of Praveen losing his lines. He stepped out to swat a short and wide ball though cover, glanced off his pads to fine leg, and square drove a full ball through backward point. Pietersen got of the mark as well, flicked off his pads through square leg for the over's fourth boundary. England were away.
Trott did most of the scoring, driving confidently through the region between backward point and extra cover when offered width, and whipping off the pads as well. Trott had helped England score 45 runs off 5.5 overs when he fell off the last ball of the mandatory Powerplay - pushing forward at one that seamed away from Vinay and edging behind.
At 48 for 3, India had the upper hand, but England recovered through a 73-run partnership between Ravi Bopara and Pietersen. Once again it was Pietersen's partner who made the early play - driving Vinay through backward point and hitting three fours in Umesh Yadav's opening over - the first of the bowling Powerplay.
Pietersen began to find his timing after spin was introduced, sweeping R Ashwin to the boundary and lofting Jadeja twice over his head for sixes. England were rebuilding their momentum rapidly when Ashwin trapped Bopara lbw. Bopara was gone for 36 off 50 balls and how the rest of the batsmen fared against the spinners would decide the outcome of the contest.

Texas Rangers beat Detroit Tigers | Rangers earn 2nd consecutive World Series berth

ARLINGTON, Texas - Nelson Cruz and the Texas Rangers are headed to their second straight World Series, finishing off the Detroit Tigers to become the American League's first repeat champion in a decade.
Cruz set a postseason record with his sixth home run of the series, Michael Young hit a pair of two-run doubles in a nine-run third inning, and the Rangers romped to a 15-5 win Saturday night that won the AL pennant in six games.
They'll open the World Series on Wednesday night at St. Louis or Milwaukee, seeking the first title in the history of a franchise that started play in 1961.
Cruz had 13 RBI s in the series, another postseason record, and was selected MVP.
was unbelievable, teammate Adrian Belt re said. "Every moment we needed him, he came through.
Young, who also homered, had five RBI s in the finale, and the longest-tenured player on the Rangers helped make sure the World Series will again be deep in the heart of Texas.
Young caught Brandon Inge' s game-ending pop out in short right field and pumped a fist into the air signaling "No. 1" while fireworks and confetti filled the air, then ran toward the middle of the field to celebrate with his teammates.
Cruz threw both hands in the air and briefly knelt to a knee in the outfield before running to the infield for the ginger ale-spraying celebration to come while a banner was unfurled high over center field declaring the Rangers 2011 AL champions
With former President George W. Bush seated in the front row alongside Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, part of the ownership group that took over the team last year, Rangers manager Ron Washington was at the edge of the dugout wildly waving his arms and shouting encouragement to his players as the big inning unfolded.
All Tigers manager Jim Leeland could do was take off his cap and scratch his head.
A franchise that began as the expansion Washington Senators and moved to Texas in 1972 had failed to reach the World Series in its first 49 seasons. Then the Rangers won their first AL pennant last year only to lose the Series to the San Francisco Giants in five games.
"As soon as the season began, we were hungry, we were hungry to get back," Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus said.
Texas overcame a 2-0 deficit by sending 14 batters to the plate against Detroit starter Max Squeezer (0-1) and three relievers in the highest-scoring postseason inning since 2002.
Alexi Uganda (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings for his second win in the series as the Rangers became the Al's first consecutive pennant winner since the New York Yankees won four in a row from 1998-01.
While Young became only the fourth player in postseason history with two extra-base hits in the same inning – first a tying double into the left-field corner and then one down the right field line for a 9-2 lead – every batter in the Texas lineup reached base at least once before the third out of the third. By the time all the fireworks was over, the Rangers scored the most runs ever in a postseason game against the Tigers and the most in any postseason contest since the Yankees routed Boston 19-8 in Game 4 of the 2004 AL CS.
Also among the sellout crowd of 51,508 was Dirk Nowadays, MVP of the NBA finals won by the Dallas Mavericks in June.
Now the Rangers get another chance to bring another championship to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and go a step further than last season.
Young, in his 11Th season in Texas, had played in 1,508 career regular season games before finally getting into the playoffs last year. He added a huge exclamation point to his already big night when he led off the seventh with a 416-foot homer to straightaway center field.
His five RBI s matched the Rangers postseason record set by Cruz in Game 2.
Young's two two-run doubles came in the highest-scoring inning in a postseason game since the Angels s matched a playoff record with 10 runs in the seventh inning of Game 5 during the 2002 AL CS against Minnesota.

Ghazal king Jagjit Singh passed away
Ghazal king Jagjit Singh passed away
Jagjit Singh
February 8 1941 ~ October 10 2011
Jagjit Singh, who died on Monday aged 70, was a singer and composer who popularised a poetic form of singing that originated in the Middle East and spread to India in the 12th century winning a huge following both in modern India and among Indian expatriate communities around the world.
The ghazal originated in Arabic verse of the 6th century and typically consists of a series of five or more rhyming couplets and a refrain. Usually centred around melancholy themes of love and loss, each couplet forms a complete two-line poem, which may be completely unrelated to its neighbouring couplets except for the formal unity of rhyme and metre.
The form spread into India with the Delhi Sultanate courts and via Sufi mystics, and developed as an Urdu poetic form, usually accompanied by musicians using classical instruments. Although the ghazal is today found in the poetry of many languages of Indian subcontinent, it was then traditionally seen as the poetry of the elite.
Known to his fans worldwide as “The Ghazal King”, Singh, together with his wife and fellow singer Chitra, won acclaim for simplifying its complex traditional musical form. He put greater emphasis on melody and used Western instruments such as saxophones and guitars alongside Indian classical instruments, such as the tablaa and sitar, while sacrificing none of the emotional impact of the poetry. Audiences have regularly been moved to tears, for example, by Singh’s expressive Chithhi na koyi sandesh, dedicated to Vivek, his only child who died in a car accident in 1990 at the age of 19: “No letters or any news. Who knows where you have gone, breaking this heart.
As well as recording more than 50 albums, Singh sang and composed for Bollywood, notably for the films Prem Geet (1981, Love Song) Arth (1982, “Meaning”) and Saath Saath (1982, “Together, Along”), as well as for Indian television. He also composed and recorded songs written by India’s former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, who in 2003 awarded Singh the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award.
One of seven children, he was born Jagmohan Singh on February 8 1941 into a Sikh family at Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Shortly after his birth his father renamed him Jagjit on the advice of a guru. Jagjit’s early years were spent in Bikaner, where his father worked for the local public works department.
The Sikh religion places great emphasis on musical performance and as a child Jagjit trained under Indian classical music teachers and began performing shabads (devotional Sikh hymns) in temples on the birthdays of Sikh gurus.
In the early 1960s he travelled to Bombay (now Mumbai), hoping to find work dubbing Bollywood stars, but had little luck with the film studios. For several years he lived in a run-down hostel, where he recalled being plagued by bedbugs and by rats that chewed his feet at night, and eked a precarious living performing at small musical gatherings and composing music for radio jingles and advertisements.
But Singh’s talent began to be noticed by recording companies and in 1975 HMV invited him to compose and record his first album, The Unforgettables (1976). A song from the album, Baat Niklegi, proved an instant hit with Indian audiences and launched Singh and his wife Chitra, whom he had married in 1970, on the path to fame. They performed and recorded together for 20 years, but after the death of their son Chitra lost her voice, so Singh continued to perform and record on his own.
Singh was dismissive of purists’ objections to his modern take on the traditional ghazal, observing that “tradition is a fake word, used by people as an excuse to avoid progress. Maybe, 50 years from now, what I’ve done will be tradition.” But he did refuse to associate himself with Bollywood’s gaudier productions: I don’t like films with four dances, two or three fights and two sex scenes. If somebody comes to me, I’ll have to check the song. Firstly, the lyrics have to be dignified. That means no vulgar double meanings. Then the melody should fit my image. I cannot sing just any nonsense.
In 2007 Jagjit Singh gave a performance, in the Central Hall of India’s Parliament of a famous ghazal by the last Moghul Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of what is known in Britain as the Indian Mutiny, but in India as the First War of Independence.
